We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Director of Operations to serve as the operational backbone of Focal Point Strategy Group. This is an internal leadership role responsible for keeping the firm running with clarity, consistency, and efficiency — so our client-facing teams can focus on delivering exceptional work.
The Director of Operations will own four core areas: people and talent, firm workflow and delivery, systems and information management, and contracts and vendor relations. This person will work closely with senior leadership to build and maintain the processes, tools, and infrastructure that allow a fast-moving firm to scale without losing its footing. The ideal candidate thrives on creating order, anticipates needs before they become problems, and brings both strategic thinking and hands-on execution to everything they do.
Key Responsibilities
People & Talent
Own the full employee lifecycle — from recruiting coordination and onboarding to performance management and offboarding — ensuring each stage is consistent, well-documented, and reflects Focal Point's culture and values.
Partner with senior leadership on hiring decisions, managing logistics, candidate communications, and interview scheduling across all open roles.

Serve as the escalation point for complex or high-stakes scheduling decisions, ensuring partners and senior staff are always prepared and on time.
Own internal project tracking — monitoring cross-team deadlines, flagging risks proactively, and working with client leads to keep deliverables on schedule.
Develop and maintain operational workflows that reduce ambiguity and enable teams to do their best work without unnecessary friction.
Coordinate logistics for firm meetings, retreats, and internal events.
Systems & Information Management
Serve as the firm's primary point of contact for IT needs, including tool access, equipment provisioning, and vendor relationships for technology services.
Own and enforce the firm's document retention and file management practices, ensuring information is organized, accessible, and appropriately secured.
Evaluate and manage the firm's operational tech stack, identifying opportunities to streamline tools and improve team efficiency.
Ensure new employees are equipped and fully operational from Day One.
Contracts & Vendor Relations
Manage the firm's contracting process end-to-end, including coordinating review and execution of client agreements, vendor contracts, and consultant arrangements.
Maintain a centralized contracts tracker and ensure all agreements are current, properly executed, and stored appropriately.
Serve as the operational liaison with external vendors and service providers, managing renewals, scope changes, and day-to-day relationship needs.
Work with outside legal counsel as needed on contract-related matters.
Qualifications
8–10 years of experience in operations, office management, chief of staff, or a related role; agency, consulting, or fast-paced nonprofit experience strongly preferred

Experience with HR processes including hiring coordination, onboarding, and performance management
